Appointments 

The surgery is committed to improve appointment availability by enabling patients to see a GP within 24 hours of a request.

Online Booking

We offer a facility enabling patients to book appointments online via the Waiting Room service. To register for the service you will have to have a unique email address that only you use, ask the reception staff at the surgery to add the email address to your record or make a request to join the service via info@wivdocs.nhs.uk

Extended Hours

The Surgery provides early or late appointments as part of the Extended Hours Scheme. This provides working patients with greater flexibility regarding appointment times. Please see our Consultation Times section for more information.

Same Day Appointment

To make an appointment please telephone, or visit the surgery between 08:30am - 6:30pm and every effort will be made to ensure you are seen by a GP the same day. This may not always be possible but we will endevour to meet your request if we can.

Pre-bookable Appointment

If you cannot attend the same day, a forward booked appointment can be made. We will try and match your needs as closely as possible with regard to GP, time and day.

Follow up Appointment

The GP may advise you to make an appointment, following a consultation, in 'n' weeks time. The receptionist will identify a time for you as close as possible to the target date with the Doctor of your choice.

Telephone Appointments

You can request a telephone appointment instead. Telephone appointments are 5 minute slots and are part of a GPs normal surgery. Please make sure you let the receptionist know the telephone number you can be contacted on for the duration of the clinic as the GP may not contact you at a specific time. Although we prefer to call you back on a landline for a telephone appointment (due to line quality) you will be asked to confirm the telephone number the GP will be calling you on, which can also be a mobile phone provided you plan to be in an area with mobile reception when called.

Triage Appointments

Once all of the daily appointments have gone you will be offered the alternative of a triage telephone appointment if you feel you require contact with a GP on the same day, this means that a clinician will call you and advise you over the phone and would then call you in to be seen on the same day if they feel they need to see you in person.

To Make an Appointment

Choose one of the following options:

 

  • Telephone Wiveliscombe 01984 623471.

  • Visit the surgery in person where the receptionist will be on hand to help.
  • Log in to Waiting Room where a selection of appointments is available to book online.

 

 The following points should be noted:

 

  • Please do not telephone for an appointment before 8.30am. Appointments can be booked between 8.30am -6.30pm.
  • It is advisable that children under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult.
  • We will make an exception to this rule if the parent telephones and speaks to the doctor beforehand, explaining the reason why they cannot accompany the child to the surgery.
  • Please do not bring additional members of the family to the surgery without an appointment. The GP will only deal with one patient per appointment.
